Smythe

Focusing only on jackets, Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe created a flawless line that exhibits the importance of fit, detail and modern style. With the passionate belief that a jacket is the essential piece to refine and complete any outfit, Smythe offers a diverse collection of sleek, classic and unique designs for a strong, iconic finish – all made in Canada. While Christie studied at Parsons School of Design and went on to work for the Gap design house, Andrea developed a keen sense of business and fashion intuition while studying at The University of Toronto and moving on to become buyer of the renowned Canadian department store, Holt Renfrew.

With a mutual obsession with jackets, long-time best friends Andrea and Christie set out to change the way women shop for jackets and coats. Launching in 2004, the Toronto based label, Smythe, is now recognized for its original style and carefully fitted silhouettes dressing the likes of Kate Hudson, Jessica Simpson, Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively and Rachel Bilson. Using only the finest of Italian fabrics, the spring collection ranges from the perfectly cool Boyfriend Blazer – a grey linen oversized, but made to fit long blazer, to the essential Equestrian – a classic two button blazer with chic leather elbow patches. Following their successful first season using leather, Smythe brings in a ¾ sleeve soft grey motorcycle and a fashion forward toggle closure jacket in a flattering cognac leather. With a charismatic and whimsical color palette of primary colors and classic blacks and whites, the charming line of jackets appeals to both the strong independent woman and the carefree spirited girl in all of us.
